Bad Tidings

Are you a fan of holiday havoc? The upcoming book Yuletide Terror: Christmas Horror on Film and Television will stuff your stockings later this year with smart horror writing about all manner of Christmas horror cinema, including pieces by several Black Museum alumni. It’s the latest book from Canadian micro-publisher Spectacular Optical, a publishing company that Black Museum co-founder Paul Corupe runs with Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies founder Kier-La Janisse. Pre-orders are now up and running for this unique and comprehensive anthology which covers the fascinating history of the darkside of holiday entertainment from Scrooge to killer Santas and from M.R. James to Krampus, and everything in between.

The book features approximately 20 chapters by established and upcoming writers as well as more than 200 capsule reviews. Along with familiar contributing authors like Stephen Thrower (Nightmare USA), Kim Newman (Nightmare Movies) and Michael Gingold (Fangoria), the book also includes pieces by your Black Museum curators Paul Corupe (on Krampus) and Andrea Subissati (on The Children) and other folks we’ve featured at the Black Museum over the years–Alexandra West (on P2) and Leslie Hatton (on A Christmas Carol).

We’ve got lots of pre-order perks available, including copies of previous Spectacular Optical books Kid Power! and Lost Girls: The Phantasmagorical Cinema Of Jean Rollin, plus Blu-rays from Vinegar Syndrome, stuff from Mondo and Death Waltz, and Xmas cards designed by Black Museum sponsor Gary Pullin and contributing BM artist Andrew Barr among others. Grab a copy to ensure a very unhappy holiday!
